Blog post, the first. This is the awkward one where I write a bunch of words about myself that no one will read unless I get really good at this or end up on The Bachelor. Let’s hope it’s the former and not the latter.
My name is Robert Preseau and I’m a Software Engineer by title but I also juggle a number of “tech” responsibilities on the side. I decided to start a blog because I need to get out of my comfort zone. My job primarily revolves around the world of ad hoc queries and, as such, I’m able to cut a lot of corners and skip a lot of important “best practices” that others in the industry preach. It’s great for job flexibility but bad for fitting in. Nobody wants to hear me running around yelling “I DO WHAT I WANT!”
So this blog is going to touch on some things I’ve learned along the way regarding said “best practices” and the pitfalls of ignoring the voices of a thousand intelligent souls. Tread lightly.
I’m a Twitter guy. Find me at @robertpreseau where I’ll likely be wishing I could attend eveyr single SQL Saturday or travelling to Miami for what I can only imagine is an amazing SQL Cruise.
We’ll be talking soon.
